MON-88Ø17-3 - YieldGard™ VT™ Rootworm/RR2™ Maize| Monsanto | Résistance aux maladies et aux parasites (Insectes, Coléoptères), Résistance aux herbicides (Glyphosate)
- Commercial release 2761-2010.pdf [ Portugais ]
The MIRI 62 corn was obtained from the insertion of the vip3Aa19 gene, which confers resistance to lepidopteran insects, and the manA gene that encodes the enzyme Phosphomannose Isomerase (PMI), used as a selection marker. A modification caused by the transformation process resulted in a difference in two codons of the inserted vip3Aa19 gene, which was then named vip3Aa20 in M1R162 maize.
Within the scope of the powers of art. 14, CTNBio considered that the biosafety measures proposed for this planned release meet the relevant norms and legislation that aim to guarantee the biosafety of the environment, agriculture, human and animal health.
It is not potentially causing significant degradation of the environment or human health.

In the Syngenta Seeds Research Support Units in Uberlândia-MG, Iraí de Minas-MG and Cruz Alta-RS and in the Experimental Station of Syngenta Crop Protection in Holambra-SP, temporal isolation of 40 days of difference between dates will be used. of flowering of other non-GM corn plantations, plus 10 meters of distance between plantations. The border that surrounds the experiment will consist of non-GM corn, and will consist of 1 planting block of 20 meters at each end and 20 rows on each side. At the Syngenta Seeds Research Support Unit in Ituiutaba-MG, the spatial isolation of 400 meters of distance between the project planting and other plantations with non-GM corn will be used, and the border that surrounds the experiment will be composed of 1 planting block of conventional non-GM corn of 10 meters at each end and 10 planting rows on each side. The borders will be destroyed after full flowering, thus reducing the volume of grains to be discarded at harvest. An identification plate will be kept in the experiment which will be located in front of the experiments. The experimental areas of the Research Support Unit in Ituiutaba-MG and the Experimental Station in Holambra-SP will be monitored monthly for four months, under irrigation, and no corn will be planted in the experimental area during post-harvest monitoring. The experimental areas of the Research Support Units of Uberlândia-MG, Iraí de Minas-MG and Cruz Alta-RS will be monitored monthly for six months, without irrigation. All work in the release area will be carried out by members of the project team, who will be presented when the planting announcement is made to CTNBio and supervisory bodies. All those involved are duly informed about the biosafety procedures that must be adopted in the execution of the experiment, aware that all measures determined by both CIBio of Syngenta Seeds and CTNBio must be complied with.
